Crop Room Remodel!!

I am so excited! I once had a fairly nice room in the basement with carpeting and shelving. It wasn't anything fancy but it was nice. Well, after the basement flooded a time or two we pulled out the carpeting. Then everytime it rained or during Spring thaw, I would get a little stream through my crop room. I am always very careful about leaving anything out and never, ever set things on the floor. It has been an area of concern for me for over a year.

The other day I decided to call Sure-dry basement to get a free estimate. I expected it to be big bucks so I knew it was a long shot but I figured what the heck. I called, set up a date and they sent me a catalog. (without prices) I told my DH the date and time and asked him to be home to meet the guy with me. Our meeting took place today.

It was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. The guy talked to us just about putting in a water guard around the perimeter of our block basement to guide the water. (more technical than that) And then my DH said what about some type of wall treatments just for the crop room. So they measured my room and priced it out. Again, very reasonable. My DH told me he thinks we should do it so I can have a nice place to work in. I do spend a lot of time there so it would be so awesome to have a nice place. I'm so excited! We will get the full appraisal in the mail in a day or two, we plan on making a decision by Friday. It looks like we are leaning towards...Yes!!

Moving

After reading about Blog to print on the Cricut message board, I decided to start a separate Blog for my weight loss Journey. I decided it would be so cool to have my Blog printed when I get to my goal weight as I would have the whole Journey in a book. Check my Blog list to find the link: Journey.

So this original Blog will be for my artful creations only!!

Getting things done!

I have spent the weekend getting unfinished kits done in my craft room. I am a Club Scrap member which I love but I had so many kits, stacked in pizza boxes just taking up space. This weekend I set a goal to get the kits done and stored properly. I am down to three and a half kits to finish. It is a huge accomplishment! I did come to realize that I need to order more page protectors and another scrapbook to get these organized. I cannot wait to finish so I can taunt my fellow Club Scrap members about being caught up!!! When I am done, I will post some pics of my favorite kits!

I used a blending pen and a pink stamp pad to color the sash, shade the sash and shoes and ink the edges of my inner image. I am on Team 1-Mad Taggers this month; voting will be open on the cricut mb Monday (3/30) and Tuesday (3/31). Go Mad Taggers!!

February MB Challenge

I had such a great time participating in the January Best of the Board Challenge so I decided to join in the fun for February as well. The Challenge was to use the word love and a heart cut with the Cricut. I used Storybook to cut the heart. I love the dramatic paper! I didn't have a red flower or button so I used alcohol inks to dye them to match. I had to add a Christmas picture of my DH and I as that's the only recent photo we have, sad. I do intend to change that photo.

January MB Challenge

This is a layout that I created for the January Best of the Board Challenge on the Cricut Message Board. I was a member of Team 2: Paper Perfection. We won! To create the layout, I cut shapes with my cricut and adhered them to a cover from a paper stack. I then covered the piece with metal plumbers' tape and used a brayer to make the shapes pop. Next, I used alcohol inks and blending solution to add some colore. I love alcohol inks. The brackets, words and numbers were cut with my cricut as well. The numbers were cut twice from thin chipboard and glued together. I purchased the tags and flowers. I'm a teacher so the picture is this years school picture, don't you just hate school pictures but what else am I suppose to do with it? This was my first ever submission to a challenge on the board and overall I was pleased with the results.

Altered Art

I love the look of Altered Art. I also love the act of creating it, it is so free!! I created the cigar box while having a create date with a friend, LL. She gave me the dress form to take home and complete. I used ripped patterned paper, ripped mulberry paper, rub-ons, transparent stickers, modge podge, gems and paint to make it mine! I display them on my grandmother's treadle sewing machine in my living room.
